Pageant Fun Facts

It's almost pageant time again! I'm getting excited! I'm dedicating this post to talking about the parts of pageants a lot of people outside the pageant world don't know about.
1) You only get exactly 90 seconds to perform your talent. If you exceed the time limit, you lose major points. And sheet music or lyrics aren't allowed on stage. Ever.
2) To get used to walking in your super high heels, it's recommended that you vacumn while wearing them.
3) The stages of competition are, personal interview, production number, Sportswear/Swimming Suit, Talent, Eveningwear, and Onstage Question.
4) Throughout all the stages of competition, you are only allowed to style your hair one way. Meaning that you can only have it curled, straightned, or wavy the whole time. You are welcome to wear it differently like in a ponytail, or down or whatever, but it must stay the same style.
5) There are usually anywhere from 5-8 judges.
6) During sportswear, both of your feet must stay on the ground except when you are walking. If you don't keep them on the ground, it's like you are doing another talent.
7) The Production Number sometimes has to be learned start to finish in as little as 3 hours.
8) We use hairspray along with glue to hold our fake eyelashes in place.
9) Backstage, we have an average of 5 minutes to change outfits, makeup, and hair style and be ready for the next event.
10)Our Little Misses aren't allowed to use our dressing rooms. They have to get ready elsewhere.
11) Your hostess isn't allowed to help you until 30 minutes prior to the start of the pageant. This means you're totally on your own for the interview.
12) Interviews last exactly 7 1/2 minutes. During your interview you can't touch the podium you are standing by, you cam't say "um" or other slang words, and you must make eye contact with the judge who asks the question, then while you are answering it, look at all the other judges, but then end with your eyes on the judge who asked the question again.

Trip to Orlando!!!!

Day 1: Thursday , February 11th
Today started our exciting trip! We woke up at 4 AM (total torture) and raced to the airport. We flew to Atlanta, Georgia and from there to Orlando, Florida! We got to Florida at 4:00 pm ish because we lost two hours because of the time difference. We got some dinner at Applebees because we were starving! It was our first meal in 18 hours!!! Ah!! That was the longest I have ever gone without eating! After dinner we went and checked in to our awesome hotel! It was amazing! We all got our own queen size beds! Well, except for Aubrey and Whitnie who shared one. We got settled in and hit the pool! The hotel’s pool was so cool! There was two pools and four hot tubs. In one of the pools, there was a huge pirate ship that had a big slide going through it! Going through it was like plunging into a black hole! It was pitch black and extremely fast! I loved it so much! Coolest hotel pool ever! After a long long day, we finally went to bed! (Except I stayed up reading The Last Song ♥ )

Day 2: Friday, February 12th
Today was our Walt Disney World day! We woke up at 7:30 and ate breakfast. (We could buy food from our hotel’s grocery store or we could go to our hotels MaLL!! So cool! ) Then we caught a shuttle to Disney World. We went past EPCOT and took pictures in front of the giant golf ball! Then off to Disney World! It was amazing! I loved all the fun rides! They had Space Mountain but there was games to play while you waited in line! It was a lot of fun! Unfortunately after a couple hours, it started to pour rain! We couldn’t leave until 10:30 that night so we were stuck! We bought ponchos to help keep us dry but we got pretty much soaked anyways. We took refuge from the rain inside a restaurant with about a million other people. We couldn’t even find a table! So we left and just went on inside rides. The crazy rain continued for a couple of hours and a ton of people left. Eventually though, it stopped raining and got pretty nice! Since everybody was gone we had the whole park practically to ourselves! All of the major rides that have commonly an hour or so wait only had a five minute wait! Waiting out the rain was totally worth it! I had so much fun! My favorite rides were Space Mountain, of course (:, and Thunder Mountain! We went on this Buzz Lightyear ride where you have to shoot targets. I got 37,000 points. Totally pathetic. But Whitnie, yes my 6 year old sister, got 999,999,999 points! I mean CRAZY! She got an award for being a Galatic Hero!!! She is pretty much amazing! Ha ha! After we had done everything we were getting pretty tired. So we ended by watching a cool parade (tons of amazing floats and lights!) and going shopping for souvenirs! I bought a Princess tiara and a plaid pink Mickey wallet! They are super cute! I also got a penny pressed with the Space Mountain ride on it! I love getting pennies pressed! We headed home on the shuttle exhausted. Yet I stayed up to read The Last Song again. I finished it at 2 AM and was totally bawling. It was an AmAzInG book but it had such a sad sad ending!!!

Day 3: Saturday, February 13th
Today was our, let’s chill day! We hung out at the pool and had nachos and ice cream. We went to the arcade and I got a Powerpuff Girl necklace! Lol. And we went to see Percy Jackson and the Olympians : The Lightning Thief. Pretty cool movie! While we were at the movie theater, we stopped by Planet Hollywood! Seriously cool!!! Then we went home and went to bed!

Day 4: Sunday, February 14th (Happy Valentines’ Day!)
Sea World day! Sea World was soo cool! We saw three four shows – a dolphin show (tons of amazing flips and tricks from the dolphins and their trainers!), a shamu show (watching killer whales perform with trainers was also pretty cool!), a walrus, sea lion, and otter show (totally funny! I loved it!), and a Pets Ahoy show! (Household pets like dogs, cats, and rats and others doing way cool things. For example, two dogs and their trainer playing jump rope together!) My favorite though was the dolphins! We got to pet stingrays! Way cool! They feel so slimy!! We got to feed sea lions! They gave us these dead fish with their eyes looking at us, that we got to feed sea lions with! It was seriously cool! One of them barked every time you fed a fish to a sea lion other than her. It was funny! We went on this one ride called The Manta Ray! It was TOTALLY worth the 45 minute wait! It is my favorite ride of all time! You go up a huge hill, like on most roller coasters, but you do it upside down! It’s crazy! Then you turn around the track, go through loop de loops and do 180’s ! It was so scary! I had a blast! We also saw penguins, alligators, polar bears, manatees, and sharks! I got a penny pressed with dolphins on it!!! I love love dolphins! We got some penguin stuffed animals and I bought some postcards for Erin!! I also bought a couple for myself to hang up in my room! Sea World was so amazing! One of my favorite places ever! We left and got some dinner then went swimming in the pool really late.

Day 5: Monday, February 15th
Beach!!!!!! I absolutely love the beach! We went to Cocoa Beach! We played in the freezing cold ocean, built sand castles (Isaac and I even built a sand couch!), and picked up sea shells. I think it is so relaxing just to lay in the sand listening to the crash of the ocean waves. Mmmm. I love the beach. I’m going to have a beach house someday just wait for it! Then we went back to the hotel and went swimming yet again! I bought some more postcards at the store and we got dinner and went to bed!

Day 6: Tuesday, February 16th
Today was the day of our departure. ): It was really sad to say goodbye to our beautiful hotel! We woke up at 5:00 AM, took planes 3 planes, one from Orlando, one from Atlanta, and one from Denver, Colorado to get home. We gained two hours, I thought it was cool that I was technically two hours younger! (: , and headed home! We almost missed our flight in Denver, made it by only two minutes!, and we were constantly worried that our luggage wouldn’t get transferred, but somehow everything turned out perfect!

Sidenote:
While we were there, there was an ongoing professional cheer competition in Orlando. A lot of the teams stayed at the same hotel as us. Every morning they would practice outside, so I would watch them out the window. They were amazing! Better than any cheerleaders I’ve ever seen anyways! It was really cool! Maybe someday I’ll be able to do what they do!!

So, anyways, that was really! long!!!!!!!! I loved Orlando and I hope to be able to go back soon! I am so happy my parents took us on this trip, they’re amazing!

Oh and just so you all know, this trip has inspired me to become a part time Tinkerbell at Disney World, and a part time dolphin trainer at Sea World for my career!! (:

I’ll post pics soon!

Movie Day!!!!

Today was one of the best Saturdays of my life!! First off, I got to go with Katie (whom I love!) to see Dear John! We have been so excited to go see it after reading the book! It was an AmAzInG movie and I highly recommend it. Even though we were crying almost the whole time, we totally loved it! It is my new favorite movie!!!!! After Dear John, we went and got a hunormous delicious oreo shake at Iceburgs! Yum! Then Katie's mom came to pick her up and I went with McKenzie (whom I also love!) to see When in Rome! Another super super cute movie! I loved it, just not as much as Dear John!!! Then we went to Walmart and I bought The Last Song - another Nicholas Sparks book that I have been wanting to read! So I is excited about that! Then we went back to her house and ate chinese food and cake batter ice cream and watched The Wedding Planner. What a marvelous day. Goodbye! ♥
