Pageant Fun Facts

It's almost pageant time again! I'm getting excited! I'm dedicating this post to talking about the parts of pageants a lot of people outside the pageant world don't know about.
1) You only get exactly 90 seconds to perform your talent. If you exceed the time limit, you lose major points. And sheet music or lyrics aren't allowed on stage. Ever.
2) To get used to walking in your super high heels, it's recommended that you vacumn while wearing them.
3) The stages of competition are, personal interview, production number, Sportswear/Swimming Suit, Talent, Eveningwear, and Onstage Question.
4) Throughout all the stages of competition, you are only allowed to style your hair one way. Meaning that you can only have it curled, straightned, or wavy the whole time. You are welcome to wear it differently like in a ponytail, or down or whatever, but it must stay the same style.
5) There are usually anywhere from 5-8 judges.
6) During sportswear, both of your feet must stay on the ground except when you are walking. If you don't keep them on the ground, it's like you are doing another talent.
7) The Production Number sometimes has to be learned start to finish in as little as 3 hours.
8) We use hairspray along with glue to hold our fake eyelashes in place.
9) Backstage, we have an average of 5 minutes to change outfits, makeup, and hair style and be ready for the next event.
10)Our Little Misses aren't allowed to use our dressing rooms. They have to get ready elsewhere.
11) Your hostess isn't allowed to help you until 30 minutes prior to the start of the pageant. This means you're totally on your own for the interview.
12) Interviews last exactly 7 1/2 minutes. During your interview you can't touch the podium you are standing by, you cam't say "um" or other slang words, and you must make eye contact with the judge who asks the question, then while you are answering it, look at all the other judges, but then end with your eyes on the judge who asked the question again.
