Farewell Speeches

These are the speeches that will go in the program book at the pageant:

Mine:
I can hardly believe that my reign as Miss Teen Syracuse has already ended. It feels like I was crowned just yesterday. I feel so blessed to have been given the chance to serve my community as Miss Syracuse Outstanding Teen. This was an amazing opportunity and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I’d like to thank my family and friends for their continual support, both financially and physically. I’d also like to thank my hostess Heidi Brophy. She is an incredible person and I couldn’t have done it without her. I owe a huge thank you to Marla Call and the rest of the Miss Syracuse committee. They’re great at what they do and none of this would be possible without them. I’d also like to thank my Little Miss Syracuse, Lyndsey Brophy. She is one of my favorite people in the world and she has been great. This has been one of the best opportunities of my lifetime.

I’ve so much enjoyed being involved in the community. I’ve been able to discover for myself how outstanding our city really is. I’m also very grateful for the chance I had to promote my platform. I’ve loved talking to our community’s children about the importance of recycling. It’s something that is extremely important to me and sharing it with others made it all the better. I know that this chapter of my life is over, but I’m ready to turn the page and start a new one. I will continue to strive for success in my life, and this experience has proved to me that I am capable of it.

I’ll remember this year for the rest of my life. I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity and I’ve learned so much from it. Thanks to everyone who made it possible.

Pageant Preview!

Today was the pageant preview! All the contestants came and passed off their wardrobe, practiced production numbers, and did mock interviews to prepare for the upcoming pageant. This year I got to be the interviewer along with Brinley! It was way fun! I got to know all of the contestants some being Cheyenne Gooch, Jamie Spackman, and McCall Devries. I did 14 interviews so it was a little exhausting and crazy but it was well worth it! We had a lot of fun! It was interesting to read everyone's resumes and give them tips on how to interview better! It's so weird because last year I was totally in their position! Anyways, funny story, it probably won't be that funny to you since you weren't there but I'll tell you anyways. So we were interviewing Cheyenne and after we were done we asked her for her closing statement. She said, "Well, if I'm crowned the next American Idol..." Lol! We all started laughing really hard it was great! She was supposed to say "If I'm crowned the next Miss Teen Syracuse." It was awesome. I was kinda surprised at the errors on people's resumes. Saying they were running for Miss Utah, saying, "pageants is," and spelling "whether" and "weather." I mean seriously? Come on people! I can tell you right now who is likely to win based off their interviews and resumes. You can learn a whole lot about a person through interviewing them for 10 minutes! It was a great experience!! (:

Lyndsey's Play: Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood

On May 25th, I had the chance to go watch Lyndsey Brophy's play Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood. It was soo much fun! She has been working hard on this for so long! She did a GREAT job as the cute fairy godmother! She is the whole package, singer, dancer, and actor!! Way to go Lynds!!! (:

Piano Recital 2010

Wow, another recital down, more humliation to live with. I was sooo prepared for this piano recital but in the middle of it I forgot what I was playing and really messed up. However I kept going so I was proud of myself. I know I messed up because I had to go 13th. That's my unlucky number. Sigh, it was too bad. I played it in seminary the day after, today, and did just fine with a few wrong notes. So, I definitely know it was the 13 thing. Nonetheless, it went ok. We went to Olive Garden with my Grandparents like we ususally do! Yum! Plus my Grandma bought my M&Ms and an amazingly cool bookmark!! Afterwards me and McKenzie headed to Lisa's house for a Young Women's party! It was was fun! That's about all. Oh, except, I wanted to say that this year for the recital I played "Tarantella" by Pieczonka. Ha ha! Bye!

Princess Prep Academy!

Yes, the Princess Prep Academy was on April 30th. It is kind of late to write about it but better late than never! SO, getting the dress was StReSsFuL! I didn't know I needed one until the night before and the lady who has all of my dresses was not home! We waited outside her house for an hour before heading home and praying she would call. SHE DID! And boy was it worth it! I got a gorgeous dress! It was soooo pretty, one of the best I've had yet, even though it seriously weighed as much as me.

So back to the Princess Prep Academy part. I got there to find out Brinley and I had to do a Princess Etiquette class for all of the 109 girls! We had ten and a time and we were supposed to take up around ten minutes per group! We only took like 4 minutes and then spent the rest of the time talking to them, asking them questions about themselves, and answering all the questions they had for us princesses. It was crazy. We taught them how to sit like a princess, walk like a princess, wave like a princess, curtsey like a princess, and how to talk like a princess. The whole time I'm thinking to myself, I am SO not a princess. Ha ha, I like to pretend though. The girls also got to make cupcakes, get their hair and nails done, have a tea party, meet with the fairy godmother, make a magic wand, and read princess books. The contestants for this years pageant host the groups and it can get soooo chaotic! I have vivid memories of last years. I saw cute Taylor Salazar and Megan Chandler, Kylie Tingey, Nicole and Carly King, and Hannah Kearl. Needless to say, I had a great time! Brinley and I always have so much fun together. I'm SO excited to watch her at Miss Utah. She'll do GREAT! I'm excited for the up and coming pageant. And yep.. Bye!
